10/30/18 - Density Cube Lab - Students had 10 cubes of the same volume that they had to calculate the density of and then determine what the cube was made of based on their description and densities found.
10/23/18 - Online Heating Curve Lab - Students used an online simulator that looked at the heating curve of three different substances and then had to make analyses based on the results (No pictures).
10/19/18 - Endo/Exothermic Demos - We looked at two very similar looking reactions - baking soda with vinegar and hydrogen peroxide with yeast, but noticed one was hot and one was cold. We discussed what this meant in terms of endo- and exothermic.
10/17/18 - Physical & Chemical Changes Lab - Students combine three common household items with water, vinegar, and iodine to observe physical and chemical changes occurring.
10/16/18 - Baggie Reactions Lab - Students combine different chemicals to observe different physical and chemical changes that take place.
10/1/18 - Metric Conversion Lab - Students had to first correctly convert units to mL before they began the lab. Within the lab, students practiced correct measuring techniques and had to follow directions using correct lab equipment to successfully complete the lab. (Forgot to take pics).
9/27-9/28/18 - Metric Olympics Lab - Students practice taking measurements accurately and precisely by "reading between the lines." They looked at measuring using tape measures, rulers, meter sticks, graduated cylinders, and digital balances.
9/21/18 - Hands on Labs 922 Day - Students made Oobleck and we discussed how it is a non-newtonian fluid and what that means. We also looked at how non-newtonian fluid substances are being utilized in body armor as well as in filling in pot holes. (Forgot to take pics)
9/13/18 - Scientific Method Gum Lab - Determining which type of gum blows the biggest bubble as well as which type of gum has more stretch.
